Three Person Team, Including Founder and CEO Seth Miller, to Compete for Non-Profit Web Site Design and Bragging Rights
Miller Systems, one of Boston’s premier technology consulting firms specializing in the design and development of elegant online user experiences, today announced its participation in the WOW Iron Chef of Web Design Competition at Macworld Conference & Expo in Boston, July 12-15, 2004 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC). Sponsored by The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) and IDG World Expo, the WOW Iron Chef of Web Design Competition will give Macworld attendees a first-hand look at what it takes to conceive and create a working Web site.
The WOW Iron Chef of Web Design Competition will feature teams of three competing head-to-head, including Miller Systems, against the clock and against other teams. Monitors will display to the crowd all keystrokes made by each team as they design, code and deploy a working Web site for a non-profit institution. At the end of the competition, one winning Web site will be selected by a panel of judges for use by the non-profit institution.
“We are thrilled to participate in such a unique event and look forward to testing our mettle against our competitors,” said Seth Miller, Founder, President and CEO of Miller Systems, Inc. “This competition should be quite challenging and a lot of fun. Our team will leverage our nine plus years of expertise to deliver a user experience that the non-profit institution would be proud to publish.”
Each team of three will include designers and developers who will identify the main needs of the non-profit institution for whom they are creating the site; create a visual design for the site including graphics and navigation; render three to five pages of its content in HTML; add any specialty features they can adequately plan for in the time allotted; address a specific Web design challenge pre-conceived by the judges; and be able to describe to the judges their process and rationale for the design approach taken.
“We are delighted that Miller Systems has agreed to participate,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters. “Hand selected from a competitive field of entries, we were impressed with Miller Systems’ team roster, including the presence of its Founder and CEO Seth Miller. We expect Miller Systems to be a formidable opponent, keeping the event interesting for competitors and attendees alike.”
