Mac OS Support Specialist

Overview:

Miller Systems is seeking candidates for an IT Consultant specializing in desktop support with emphasis on Mac OS (OSX 10.4+).

The candidate chosen for this position will provide technical assistance and training to end users; respond to users' requests for assistance by phone and in person; install/modify computer and network hardware and software; troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems; keep support tickets and documentation up to date, and perform other similar support/help desk duties.

While the candidate will primarily focus and specialize in Mac OS support, his/her duties will include Microsoft Windows desktop support as well. Support of core applications on both platforms, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and others, is critical in addition to the Operating System itself.

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

Education and Career Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of help desk experience in a Mac OS or heterogeneous Mac/Windows environment
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or university or equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Technology Skills and Experience

  • Advanced skills and demonstrable experience in Mac OS X and Apple hardware, including system setup, troubleshooting,command-line tools,permissions,and networking
  • Solid knowledge and experience performing basic troubleshooting and configuration of Windows desktop operating systems (XP, Vista, Windows 7) and Microsoft Office
  • Fundamental basic understanding of TCP/IP on both wired (Ethernet) and wireless networks

Any of the following will push candidates to the top of the list:

  • Mac OSX Server administration experience
  • Any of the following certifications on the road to becomign an Apple Certified Systems Administrator:
    9L0 511, 9L0-510,9L0 623,9L0-625,9L0-624
  • Experience managing group deployments of Mac workstations
  • Experience setting up and supporting smartphones and/or tablets (BlackBerry, iPhone/iPad, Android, etc.)
  • Any recent Microsoft desktop OS certification
  • Demonstrably strong TCP/IP networking skills
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office (Windows 2010 and later, Mac Office 2008 and later)
  • A thoughtful cover letter
